Week 17:

this week was maddie’s 4 month birthday and her first thanksgiving! She celebrated her birthday with a rice cereal dinner with mommy and daddy. Needless to say, she wasn’t too thrilled with the menu….when I put the cereal to her lips, she would make a funny face and then spit it out. This holiday was very special to us because last thanksgiving we told our families that we were expecting a new addition to our family and this year she was here. God has blessed me with a beautiful baby girl, a loving husband and a wonderful family! We are all thankful that maddie is here and a part of our lives.

Week 16:

maddie had her 4 month check-up this week and she is weighing in at 15lbs 12oz and is 26in long. The Dr. said that she is going to be a tall girl. I really had no doubt about that considering her mommy and daddy are both tall. Let’s re-cap what all maddie is doing these days….she can roll over both ways; holds her head up and sits up all by herself when sitting in your lap; she pulls herself up when she holds on to your fingers; she is laughing and smiling 24/7; when you stand her up, she is putting weight on her feet and straightening her legs out; she is putting anything and everything in her mouth…..watch out for your fingers! So, in a nutshell, she is doing everything a baby her age should be doing and also some things a little more advanced. What can I say……she is a pretty perfect little angel!

Week 15:

I almost thought that the time had come for baby maddie to leave the nest and move on to bigger and better things……a.k.a. her own room. She had slept all the way through the night for 3 nights in a row and then came daylight savings time and messed all of that up. So she is still hanging out in mommy and daddy’s room for the time being. As bad as this probably sounds, I am kind of glad that she has started waking up more in the night. It makes me sad to think of her in her big room all by her little self. Right now I can sit up in bed and look at her in her pac-n-play, hear her when she is having a sweet dream and laughs in her sleep, and know when she rolls over. I don’t know who it will be harder on when she makes that big move……maddie or mommy.

Maddie, My Sweetest Heart

My Sweetest Heart in all the world
I think of you each day
I love you so much
More and more everyday

When you wake each morning
Your smile is all I see
My heart is filled with joy
You mean so much to me

You fill my days with love
And feelings I can’t explain
I hope you feel my heart
And know I’ll never be the same

The day I knew you were true
And growing safe inside me
I promised to do the best I could
To always make you happy

We shared one body for so long
And have a bond no one can break
My heart is yours forever
Not anyone else’s to take

How did I get so blessed
That God picked me for you
I am so very lucky
My Sweetest Heart – I love you!

-Mommy

Week 14:

this week maddie has found her voice and enjoys using it. She will let out a high pitched “yelp” followed by some jibber jabber. I’m not really sure what she is trying to get across to me, but I know that it must be very important! She is also laughing a lot at things. Her laugh is kind of low pitched and “raspy.” It is the cutest thing in the world to hear and you can’t help but laugh along with her! For a 3 month old she sure has a very busy social calendar. This week she attended her cousin’s birthday party, went to the pumpkin patch, went trick-or-treating and had a play date with her other cousin. It’s hard keeping all of her engagements in order….she’s a baby in high demand!!!

Week 13:

Happy 3 month’s maddie! this week she learned how to make the “motorboat” sound with her lips and all of her drool. She is also pulling her body up when she sits in your lap. These days she is always drooling…. So if you are wanting to hold her or love on her, be prepared to be “slimed.” It is so true what people say about babies growing up very fast. It is very hard for me to believe that maddie has been in our lives for 3 months. It seems like yesterday wade and I were two scared souls bringing home a little baby for the first time. I was packing up all of her 0-3 “onesies” that she has grown out of the other day and it brought a tear to my eye……our baby is growing up.

Week 12:

Well, Maddie had a very full social schedule this week. We went with “pops” to visit “aunt izzy” and Dylan and took “aunt izzy” out to lunch for her birthday. We had a party to go to for one of my friend’s mom’s who was 5 years cancer free and needless to say, she was the hit of the party. she is such a happy, laid back baby. I am so lucky to be her mommy and I thank god every night that he has given her to us…..we are so blessed. I never knew that life could be so good until maddie came along . every time I look at her, I feel joy and unconditional love. I now know why god put me on this earth…….to be maddie’s mommy and wade’s other half. Who knew that being a mommy would be so incredible!!!

Week 11

maddie rolled over for the first time this week……she is so amazing! I also set her in her “bumbo” seat and she sat up and held her head up all by herself. the last couple of mornings when I have gone to get her out of her bed, she is holding her little head up and looking around (it is too cute). she has had a very busy week with all of the new things she has learned. I can’t wait to see what she is doing next week. Wade and I can already tell that she is a very determined and head strong baby……wonder where she gets that from????

Week 10:

maddie took her 1st road trip to the cabin in the deer woods. She really seemed to enjoy the outdoors and all the fresh air. Daddy is already talking about her in the deer stand with him in her pink and green “cammo” outfit he bought for her. This week she has gone to bed a little earlier and has been still sleeping longer through the night……yeah maddie! she is starting to laugh out loud which is too cute! There is no better cure for anything than a baby’s smile and laughter!

Week 9:

we have discovered our feet! It is so adorable to watch her with her feet up in the air and her little hands trying to grab a hold of her feet! She is such a doll! Mommy had a cold this week and luckily, maddie didn’t catch it. We have also started sleeping longer in the night (which is great for mommy and daddy sleeping, but not so good for mommy’s milk source).

Week 8:

Three words…..Smiles, smiles, smiles!!! She is steadily sucking on her hand and slobbering. She is talking, cooing and gurgling a lot, too these days. Maddie will also get very calm, quiet and very deep in thought…they say that they are soaking everything in. we had her 2 month dr.’s appointment with shots. She did very well, cried a little after the shots, but then settled down. It about killed me having to watch her get them, though. She weighed 12lbs 11oz and was 24” long. She has grown 3 inches since she was born and gained 4 lbs…..she is such a good eater!

Week 7:

she is all smiles in the a.m. I put her rattle in her hand and she held on to it and shook it. She is holding her head up by herself, too. She is finally enjoying her bath time, but not so much when you get her out to dry her off. Maddie gave cards and pictures to everyone for her 1st grandparents day

Week 6:

this week maddie went on her first walk with mommy. She loved all of the new sights, sounds and smells of the outdoors…. That is, until she fell asleep. She also had her first razorback game and was dressed in her rhinestone hogs onsie. She has started sleeping better at night. Her little eyes are following objects when things are put in front of her.

Week 5:

she is smiling all the time…….she is a very happy baby, especially when she wakes up in the morning. Maddie is holding her head up by herself this week. I’m sure that she already has so much to tell us because she is grunting and cooing a lot. She is also following objects with her eyes if you put something in front of her. We have started to swaddle her this week and she is a little whoodini. She had her first dinner with mommy and nite-nite at izzy’s.
