Week 17:

this week was maddie’s 4 month birthday and her first thanksgiving! She celebrated her birthday with a rice cereal dinner with mommy and daddy. Needless to say, she wasn’t too thrilled with the menu….when I put the cereal to her lips, she would make a funny face and then spit it out. This holiday was very special to us because last thanksgiving we told our families that we were expecting a new addition to our family and this year she was here. God has blessed me with a beautiful baby girl, a loving husband and a wonderful family! We are all thankful that maddie is here and a part of our lives.

Week 16:

maddie had her 4 month check-up this week and she is weighing in at 15lbs 12oz and is 26in long. The Dr. said that she is going to be a tall girl. I really had no doubt about that considering her mommy and daddy are both tall. Let’s re-cap what all maddie is doing these days….she can roll over both ways; holds her head up and sits up all by herself when sitting in your lap; she pulls herself up when she holds on to your fingers; she is laughing and smiling 24/7; when you stand her up, she is putting weight on her feet and straightening her legs out; she is putting anything and everything in her mouth…..watch out for your fingers! So, in a nutshell, she is doing everything a baby her age should be doing and also some things a little more advanced. What can I say……she is a pretty perfect little angel!

Week 15:

I almost thought that the time had come for baby maddie to leave the nest and move on to bigger and better things……a.k.a. her own room. She had slept all the way through the night for 3 nights in a row and then came daylight savings time and messed all of that up. So she is still hanging out in mommy and daddy’s room for the time being. As bad as this probably sounds, I am kind of glad that she has started waking up more in the night. It makes me sad to think of her in her big room all by her little self. Right now I can sit up in bed and look at her in her pac-n-play, hear her when she is having a sweet dream and laughs in her sleep, and know when she rolls over. I don’t know who it will be harder on when she makes that big move……maddie or mommy.

Maddie, My Sweetest Heart

My Sweetest Heart in all the world
I think of you each day
I love you so much
More and more everyday

When you wake each morning
Your smile is all I see
My heart is filled with joy
You mean so much to me

You fill my days with love
And feelings I can’t explain
I hope you feel my heart
And know I’ll never be the same

The day I knew you were true
And growing safe inside me
I promised to do the best I could
To always make you happy

We shared one body for so long
And have a bond no one can break
My heart is yours forever
Not anyone else’s to take

How did I get so blessed
That God picked me for you
I am so very lucky
My Sweetest Heart – I love you!

-Mommy

Week 14:

this week maddie has found her voice and enjoys using it. She will let out a high pitched “yelp” followed by some jibber jabber. I’m not really sure what she is trying to get across to me, but I know that it must be very important! She is also laughing a lot at things. Her laugh is kind of low pitched and “raspy.” It is the cutest thing in the world to hear and you can’t help but laugh along with her! For a 3 month old she sure has a very busy social calendar. This week she attended her cousin’s birthday party, went to the pumpkin patch, went trick-or-treating and had a play date with her other cousin. It’s hard keeping all of her engagements in order….she’s a baby in high demand!!!
